Find the date that matters before renewal.
The term-end date is only one of the dates worth putting on your calendar.
Find the deadline
Locate the initial term, renewal term, notice period, notice recipient, and accepted delivery method. Calculate a proposed date and have a person verify it.
Check the economics
Review renewal pricing, usage commitments, seat changes, and any minimum spend. Ask how price changes are communicated.
Assign ownership
Choose who monitors the service, who approves renewal, and who sends cancellation notices. Store the notice and proof of delivery where the team can find them.
Illustrative negotiation
“Could you send a reminder before the cancellation window closes and confirm the method for giving notice?”
Check applicable rules
This checklist does not summarize federal or state automatic-renewal law. Consumer and business transactions can raise different questions.
Sources and scope
New York General Obligations Law § 5-903
